Context

TRVL Porter is a fashion rental company that allows women to express their personal style in a sustainable way by sending them hand-picked clothing items directly to their hotel or stay.

Project Goals

The goal was to rebrand TRVL Porter’s design to appeal to their target audience of professional, affluent women ages 28+ that are avid travelers. In addition, to improve the user experience of the website to create a more seamless journey from discovery to rental.

Research

We researched competitors in the fashion industry with similar monthly subscription or one-time rental business models to analyze common design features.

The website home pages of the competitors clearly explained how their services work to provide confidence to the user landing on the website for the first time. The website copywriting used a tone unique to the brand’s target audience to make the experience more relatable to the user. In addition, the home pages featured photo collections of clothing pieces such as outfits for a wedding party or for a cocktail gathering to serve as fashion inspiration.

Strategy

We determined that TRVL Porter’s unique value proposition is to serve business women who travel often for work, like to stay updated with the latest fashion trends, and prefer to travel with minimal luggage. The clothing and accessories for these women depend on the activities they plan to participate in during their business trips such as cocktail parties, business meetings, or conferences.

To appeal to this target audience, we rebranded the TRVL Porter website to focus on confident women who want a hassle-free trip. We were inspired by the fast-paced lifestyle of traveling by airplane and developed the taglines – “Your Rental Travel Wardrobe of First Class Fashion”, “Your Boarding Pass to Personal Style”.

We refined the process for a user to pick their style preferences, introducing a function to specify the activity or event the user plans to take place in to curate their recommended fashion pieces. Lastly, we added illustrations to represent the styles of clothing to make it easier for the user to visualize.

Final Delivery

We refreshed TRVL Porter’s style guidelines and created interactive wireframes to prototype the user flow of the new website. We updated the website copywriting and added fashion illustrations to align with the defined target audience. Lastly, we partnered with a web development agency to implement the design, optimize the site for scalability, and implement AI and automation strategies to maximize the site functionality.
